Description
The workshops at GöteborgsOperan consist of a blacksmith shop, carpentry, painting, upholstery, props, and a construction department. Currently, about 30 people work here under the leadership of a workshop manager. We are now looking for a new full-time employee for our blacksmith shop.
Responsibilities
As a blacksmith, you will collaborate with set designers and other project-based individuals from various nationalities and must meet the requirements that the stage decor fulfills the artistic vision and can be used safely. In addition to manufacturing complex stage designs, our decorative elements must be manageable for the stage technicians and safe for our artists, able to be disassembled for tours and storage, and possible to sort for recycling when it is finally time for disposal. We work on a project basis, which means that everyone contributes to completing a production. Therefore, we place high demands on collaboration skills, flexibility, and openness.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with technical training in workshop technology or equivalent documented professional experience and has a good understanding of machines as well as the formability, weldability, and strength of materials. We work with both aluminum and steel, which means that welding skills should include TIG, MAG, MIG, and MMA. Being able to read and understand drawings is an absolute requirement. In your role, you will also function as a sounding board for our designers regarding welding requirements, quality, and execution classes, as well as assist with ideas regarding construction solutions. You have a B driver's license and good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. It is a requirement that you can work independently, structured, and have a holistic view of the work. As a person, you take responsibility for your work but also work well in a team. You are safety-conscious, meticulous, and have good communication skills. You understand what it means to work against strict deadlines and believe that challenges are meant to be solved. Preferred qualifications:
- CAD knowledge
- Being a certified IWS
- Previous experience in project management
- Experience in manufacturing stage design.
Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis.
